Womp Womp…Human Trafficking?

The video above shows Amsterdam onlookers in the Red Light District letting out whistles for a staged seemingly impromptu dance performance. The female dancers are lined up in windows of Amsterdam’s red light district when they break into a choreographed dance to dubstep music. Womp. Womp. Whistles.
When the dance ends, quite a crowd has gathered, clapping; however, the atmosphere shifts quickly when a large screen on the building lights up to read: “Every year, thousands of women are promised a dance career in Western Europe. They end up here.” A very sobering message.
The campaign was an anti-human trafficking publicity stunt for Stop the Traffik. It’s a creative take on using sex to sell your message. Regardless of your stance on prostitution (shot in Amsterdam where it is perfectly legal) the message is loud and clear. We need to wake up and pay attention to human trafficking, an issue that is often ignored.
