So you think you can dance…virtually?

Did you walk through Martin Place in Sydney last Friday and then proceed to strain your neck from doing a double take? We did. Right there, smack in the middle of Sydney’s Martin Place was a humungo 12 square metre projection screen where people were challenged to a musical dance-off comp with Timomatic. Since we like a good publicity stunt when we see one and we also happen to love watching ourselves dance on the jumbo-tron screen… this works.
The fun is put on by Nokia in a nationwide tour called ‘Lumia Live.’ It’s the biggest interactive augmented reality (AR) project to hit Oz, aimed at demonstrating key features of the new smartphone in a virtual, interactive way. Aside from dancing alongside Timomatic, you can kick an Angry Birds’ character or pet a kangaroo trying to find his way back to Uluru. Keen.
It’s like Wii, DDR, and the drive-in movies, but in public. Intense right?
